Let us introduce CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD

CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD project aims to build a digital platform tailored for people living with dementia and their caregivers, considering this "dyad" as the unit of care. The platform will offer both a variety of advanced, personalised services that will improve the quality of their lives and enable them to live well in the community for as long as possible.

The services offered by the CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD platform will be based on the collection and analysis of data provided by the end-users or generated through their interaction with the system.  Accessible through user-friendly and easy-to-use interfaces for smartphones, tablets and web browsers, these services will include:

- clinical and psychological services
- personalised care plans
- educational interventions tailored to each user's symptoms
- social networking with other people living with dementia, caregivers and clinicians
- a medication reminder system
- a service for reporting to doctors and medical staff about treatment adherence levels and other importnat clinical information

The CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD platform will offer multiple benefits for its users through personalised care plans, managing medication and behavioural treatments for both people living with dementia and their caregivers. The individually tailored care plans are expected to reduce stress and the incidence of caregiver burn-out.  The system will discretely monitor users' interaction with the platform, allowing rapid adaptation of the care plan.  Valuable data on the health of people living with dementia and of caregivers will be accessible to healthcare professionals.  These data will inform the evolution of effective care plans and preventive interventions. The introduction of systems such as the CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD platform is expected to reduce the direct healthcare requirements of people living with dementia and their caregivers and to increase their confidence and quality of life, while reducing the costs of care of national health systems.

In order to demonstrate the CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD benefits for its users and to prepare for the sustainable pan-European roll out of the platform, 4 large scale pilots will be carried out for 18 months in Spain, France, Italy and UK. Several workshops will be organised throughout Europe, as well as a major conference at the end of the project.

CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD project started in January 2016 and will last for 3 years. It receives funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, under grant agreement No 201606 and involves 8 partners from 5 countries.

Dementia and Psychiatric Comorbidity Symptoms Assessment Handbook
The Dementia and Psychiatric Comorbidity Symptoms Assessment Handbook was delivered in April 2016, with the aim to report the results of a thorough review of dementia and co-morbidity symptoms and of the most common validated scales to measure them.
The handbook addresses three target groups: people living with neuro-cognitive disorders, their caregivers and the dyad, i.e. the couple person living with dementia-caregiver, which is considered as the unit of care and represents the main target of the whole project.
This deliverable proposes dedicated scales facilitating the dyad screening, profiling and assessment, to be tested during the pilot phase of the project.
