The Bages University Foundation (FUB) was established in 1990 as a private foundation with the aim of guaranteeing the provision of a significant range of university studies in the central regions of Catalonia, thus contributing to achieve greater geographical balance in terms of university education. The FUB is located in Manresa (Bages) and is divided into two separate school: The School of Health Sciences, which offers degrees in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Podiatry; and the School of Social Sciences, which offers degrees in Business Administration and Early Childhood Education.
Since its inception 25 years ago, the FUB has developed a high research activity around all its fields of knowledge. To develop research FUB counts on the support of the University Clinic (CU+) [http://www.fub.edu/eng/index.php/clinic.html].
CU+ is located next to the headquarters of the Bages University Foundation. The 3,500 m2 building houses both clinical, research and teaching activities with areas which have been specially designed for simulation based education.
This clinical teaching facility is used by all students of the different Healthcare Science degrees, as well as by students of lifelong learning, postgraduate and master’s courses. At the same time, a team of professional healthcare practitioners offers a service of expert medical care. Some of the staff is university teachers and others are former alumni who have been chosen among the best of their classes, based on their academic and personal profile. The CU + allows the FUB develop a large number of research projects focused on human aging and welfare problems associated.
FUB is the clinical project leader of the CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD consortium and will run a pilot in Spain.
