The Dementia Awareness Day event took place at Princes Quay Main Deck, Kingston-upon-Hull, East Yorkshire, UK, on the 18th of May 2016.
The event provided information about dementia, falls prevention, available local resources supporting people with dementia, dementia friendly environments, training for nurses, as well as advice about bank arrangements and benefits for carers of people with dementia.
The event provided a good insight about dementia to volunteers, carers and people with dementia. In addition, participants were informed about all the available local services which can provide support and help people with dementia and their carers. Finally, through this event, health professionals and researchers created networks with each other and with people with dementia and promoted their work.
Around 100 people attended the event, among them, people living with dementia, carers of people with dementia and health professionals (nurses, psychologists, volunteers or researchers in dementia etc. )
HULL team promoted the CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD project and distributed brief information material.
