CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD project was presented in the inter-regional conference “Strategie Assistenziali per la non-autosufficienza” (Care Strategies for non-self-sufficiency) that was held on 20-21 of May 2016, in Iesi, Italy.
In the context of the general discussion taking place about strategies to confront risks and consequences of non-self-sufficiency of the elderly population, COOSS introduced the CAREGIVERSPRO-MMD strategy to deal with problems related to the care of people living with cognitive impairments by means of web-based services.
The presentation of the project raised the interest of the stakeholders, particularly about its focus on the “dyad” (person with dementia – caregiver) as the unit of care, demonstrating how important the support for caregivers is considered to be. Furthermore, significant emphasis was given on the need of personalised care services, as a key element of success and effectiveness in the case of dementia.
During the event, which attracted approximately 80 attendees (scientific community, policy makers and general public), further useful contacts were established with local decision makers and associations of caregivers.
